04/10/2022
He will appear at Oxford Magistrates’ Court today
A 37-year old Banbury man has been charged in connection with multiple assaults following an incident on the Bankside estate on Sunday evening.
Darren Garnon, of Mawle Court in Banbury, has been charged with one count of assault by beating, one count of escaping lawful custody and two counts of assault by beating of an emergency worker.
As we reported yesterday, Thames Valley Police received reports of a female being punched by a man on Chatsworth Drive at around 7pm on Sunday. Officers arrived to investigate and during the man’s arrest his actions resulted in him being further arrested on suspicion of assaulting the two female officers. The latter incident took place on Caldwell Road.
The episode resulted in a heavy police presence in the area.
Garnon has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Oxford Magistrates’ Court today (October 4).
