Man involved in collision at sports centre has died

An investigation has begun on behalf of the coroner

A man who was in the car which collided with the wall of the Spiceball Sports Centre gym two weekends ago has passed away. Thames Valley Police have issued a witness appeal as they begin an investigation on behalf of the coroner.

A white Ford Fiesta left the road at the roundabout with Concord Avenue and Cherwell Drive and hit the building at around 9.10pm on Saturday March 15.

The man, who was in his 80s, was taken to hospital.   He was sadly pronounced dead the following Tuesday (March 18).

Investigating officer PC Dean O’Dell, of the Joint Operations Roads Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts remain with the family of the man who sadly died.

“We are carrying out enquiries on behalf of the coroner.

“As such we would ask anyone with information, dash-cam or CCTV, to please contact us through our online reporting form, quoting reference 43250127661. Alternatively you can call 101.”
