Meeting discusses future direction of Banbury United
24/01/2025
An online vote is now underway
A decision on the future of Banbury United as a fan owned club will be finalised by the end of the month, once an online vote has been completed.
Last night club members met at Station Approach and discussed a number of options to ensure the club’s survival, with board members warning them beforehand that staying as they were wasn’t an option.
The board offered members a number of options to consider, such as increasing the amount they pay each year to provide more capital to the club, or budget cuts which would affect the amount paid to players and the number of staff employed. A third option would give the board permission to investigate moving from fan ownership to private ownership.
Those present at the meeting voted on their preferred option with those not in attendance now able to make their opinions known through an online vote.
Director Claire Dumbreck told Banbury FM: “The members of Banbury United Community Football Club Ltd met on Thursday evening to discuss possible future directions for the Club. This followed ongoing dialogue with members as to the financial situation at the Club.
“At the conclusion of the meeting, an informal vote was held, which is being extended to an online vote for members who were not able to attend the meeting. The deadline for votes to be cast is January 28th. The Club will communicate the results to members shortly after.”
Tomorrow, back on the pitch the Puritans have an away fixture against Bedford Town.
