Mill confirms shows up to October 1 will be at Woodgreen Leisure Centre
20/08/2024
Repair work has taken considerably longer than originally anticipated
The Mill Arts Centre says the final stage of the repairs to their auditorium floor has now been set in motion. They are looking forward to being able to resume live events back at The Mill this Autumn.
In the meantime the pop-up venue in the hall at the Woodgreen Leisure Centre will continue to be used until the end of September.
Yesterday we told you that members of the Banbury Cross Indoor Bowling Club had expressed their disappointment at being told they wouldn’t be able to use the Leisure Centre hall in time for the planned start of their new season.
The Mill’s main auditorium closed back in January, initially as a temporary measure, after staff discovered damage to the floor in the wake of the building being surrounded by flood water.
As it became evident repair work would take longer than originally anticipated the Woodgreen Leisure Centre’s hall was converted into a dedicated space for live performances in April. The initial plan was to use the pop-up theatre until the end of June.
The Mill says all performances from October 1 are scheduled to take place back in their main auditorium.
Their team have been working on transferring the September shows and events to the temporary theatre at the Woodgreen Leisure Centre. Existing ticket holders will be contacted about the changes.
A spokesperson said: “Thank you for your ongoing support and patience whilst our auditorium has remained out of action since earlier this year.”
