Mill escapes with only minor flooding impact
07/01/2025
Most parts of the building are functioning as normal
The Mill Arts Centre has again been affected by flood water, but on this occasion the impact has only been minor.
Following spells of wet weather and melting snow from the weekend the River Cherwell broke its banks in Banbury. Overnight the waters reached the Mill, but the Café Bar was the only area affected. Other parts of the building, including the theatre, weren’t impacted.
Whilst the Café Bar will remain closed all scheduled classes and activities will continue as normal. Those visiting the Mill may be asked to use a different entrance.
An Environment Agency flood warning from Charwelton to Banbury remains in force, although they say river levels are now falling. A higher level flood alert is in place along the course of the River Cherwell from the southern side of Banbury, affecting places such as Wales Street in Kings Sutton. River levels here also now appear to be falling.
