Mill theatre closure extended to April 13
14/03/2024
No details of the specific nature of the problem have been released
The closure of the theatre at The Mill Arts Centre in Banbury now looks set to run into a fourth month. Shows had been rescheduled or cancelled up until March 23, but now the venue says they are making alternative arrangements for live performances scheduled to take place up until April 13.
The Theatre has been closed since January 29 when staff discovered damage to the floor after the River Cherwell burst its banks. At the time it was thought that much of the building – including the theatre – hadn’t been affected.
The Mill Arts Centre initially envisaged a week-long closure but have since extended this twice after it was discovered what they described as a need for “more extensive repairs”.
Whilst no details of the specific nature of the problem have been released, a statement announcing the extension to the closure period for the theatre noted: “We’ll be providing a full update soon on progress with the repairs.”
All customers for events up to April 13 will be contacted with more information.
Other areas of the building, such as the art studio, dance studio, long room and Millers Bar are open as normal.
