Motorcyclist hospitalised following collision close to M40 in Banbury

The rider was thrown over the barrier and landed on the opposite carriageway
A motorcyclist is in hospital with serious injuries following a collision near the M40 junction in Banbury yesterday morning (Friday).
It was around 11.20am when a silver Yamaha FZS 1000 left the Wildmere Road and Ermont Way roundabout to head up the eastbound A422 towards the M40. As it did so it collided with a road barrier.
The motorcyclist – a man in his sixties – went over the barrier and landed on the westbound carriageway. His motorbike stayed on the eastbound carriageway.
The man sustained serious injuries and remains in hospital.
Thames Valley Police Investigating officer PC Katie Young said: “I am appealing for witnesses to this collision to please come forward.
“I am also appealing to anyone who was driving in the area and has dash-came footage, to please share this with us.

Following the collision the A422 remained closed for a couple of hours, with one lane in each direction opened towards the end of lunchtime.
