Sean Woodcock spoke during a statement by The Secretary of State for Health and Social Care
Banbury’s MP has raised the issue of the downgrading of the Horton General Hospital’s maternity service in the House of Commons.
Sean Woodcock spoke during a statement by Wes Streeting, The Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, on the problems the NHS faces, as highlighted in a report by Lord Darzi.
Mr Woodcock highlighted how the Horton had changed during the time when the Conservatives had been in power.
He said: “In 2016, the Horton Hospital in my constituency lost its consultant led Maternity Unit – a temporary downgrade that ended up being made permanent three years later.
“Isn’t it about time that someone from the party opposite apologised for the damage done to Banbury’s Hospital as well as to the NHS as a whole?”
The Secretary of State replied praising Mr Woodcock for championing his constituents interests but concluded saying that for the Conservatives “sorry seemed to be the hardest word”.
