New grant scheme hopes to help strengthen Banbury’s communities and improve wellbeing
09/08/2023
A pot of £75,000 has been made available
Three areas in Banbury are set to benefit from a new grants scheme, offering up to £3,000 to groups or not-for-profit organisations.
The Brighter Futures Banbury Community Fund has been launched by Cherwell District Council and is open to applications from the Ruscote, Neithrop and Grimsbury areas. Money will be given to projects which promote people’s wellbeing and strengthen the local community.
£75,000 is available, with the money coming from Oxfordshire County Council’s public health budget.
The areas targeted for the grants have been selected based on official government data on which parts of Oxfordshire have the highest levels of deprivation. Research by Community First Oxfordshire provided a number of recommendations for the sorts of projects which can best support those communities, leading to the criteria for the grant programme.
Local groups can apply for funding for new or existing projects that improve health and wellbeing, and which promote the use and knowledge of local facilities or activities.
The current window for grant applications is open until Friday 15 September. Details are available here.
