A national police helicopter was also used to support the search for the animal.

The dog and its owners were subsequently located by officers and voluntarily interviewed.   An investigation has now been completed.

A Thames Valley Police spokesperson said: “Following an investigation into this incident, voluntary interviews were conducted, but there was not sufficient grounds for charges to be brought.  However advice was given to help prevent any future incidents of this nature.  The report has been filed pending further information coming to light.
