Noisy vacuum extractor to be used during HS2 road closure in Chipping Warden

28/08/2025

The main A361 will be shut so traffic will be diverted through the village

HS2 and their contractors are holding a community drop-in event in Chipping Warden village hall between 2 and 4pm today.

The event takes place a day before a full closure of the A361 comes into force to allow work on a gas main to take place.

Villagers are being warned the work will require some excavation and the use of a vacuum extractor, which could be noisy.

The road closure comes into force at 8pm tomorrow (Friday) and remains in place until 6am on Monday.

The vacuum extractor – which uses powerful suction to remove soil, debris, and other materials from the ground – is likely to be in use on Friday evening and Saturday morning, for around two hours on each occasion.

A diversion will be in place through the centre of Chipping Warden whilst the main A361 is closed between the two relief road roundabouts.
