Nominations open for Cherwell Volunteer Awards 2023
10/05/2023
The awards offer the opportunity for those that go above and beyond to be recognised
The search is on to find and celebrate the volunteers who make a difference in our area. Nominations are now being taken for this year’s Cherwell ‘Love Where you Live’ Volunteer Awards.
The hard work of both individuals and groups will be recognized in the annual awards, which are organised by Sanctuary and Cherwell District Council.
This year there are five categories. These include the Volunteer of the Year and Young Person (under 21) of the Year.
The work of a local organisation will be celebrated in the Community Group award whilst the Community Venue award will shine a spotlight on a venue which really makes a difference in its local community.
The individuals who give their time helping others in their locality can be nominated for the Good Neighbour award.
Charlie Heritage, Sanctuary’s neighbourhood partnership manager, said: “2023 marks the fifth year of the Cherwell Volunteer Awards and I have no doubt that we will once again discover more incredible people that are striving to make positive changes in our community.
“We look forward to receiving some fantastic nominations and to recognising the people in our community who go the extra mile.”
Nicola Riley, Assistant Director: Wellbeing and Housing Services at Cherwell District Council, said: “There is a sense of selflessness and togetherness within our communities and the Cherwell Volunteer Awards offer the perfect opportunity for those that go above and beyond to be recognised for their invaluable input and support.
“We wholeheartedly encourage people to show their thanks and shine a light on the brilliant work being done throughout the district.”
Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on August 24 and donations will be made to community groups of the winners’ choice.
Nominations must be received by May 31 and can be submitted here.
