Off-roaders cause damage at the Burton Dassett Country Park

Work has begun to reprofile ditches designed to address antisocial behaviour
Drivers off-roading at the Burton Dassett Country Park have damaged one of the grass areas which is used by families enjoying picnics and for grazing livestock. The scene greeted the wardens when they completed their site checks yesterday (Saturday).
Following a number of recent incidents work has begun to reprofile ditches designed to address antisocial behaviour. These were constructed a number of years ago to stop people being able to drive off the roads and out of the car park areas, but they have softened over time.
A spokesperson for the Country Park said: “It illustrates better than any written description could, of the sort of damage we are seeking to address with the current ditching works taking place in the park.
“We already have this area earmarked for ditching, so hopefully the grass will soon have a chance to recover, and be protected from further damage. Pedestrian access onto the picnic area will be maintained.”
