Operation Jinglebells will police the area’s night-time economy
10/12/2021
The scheme aims to educate people on the dangers of drinking in excess, drug use and personal safety
Banbury Neighbourhood Policing Team have launched their Operation Jinglebells campaign.
Working with their partners from Cherwell District Council Community Safety Team and others, the campaign is this year’s approach to policing the night-time economy over the festive period.
The scheme will educate people on the dangers of drinking in excess, drug use and personal safety.
Yesterday evening (Thursday) the team were in Banbury Town Centre along with the licensing officer ensuring that venues are sticking to the terms of their licence. They were also joined by drugs detection dogs utilising stop and search powers where appropriate to remove any illegal substances.
Operation Jinglebells will run throughout December.
Writing on social media the force said: “Clearly we won’t be publicising when we will be out and about – so our advice is don’t take drugs, leave any weapons at home, drink responsibility and stay safe this Christmas.”
