A clip of Tom Durnin finishing the race has gone viral
A Banbury man has hit the headlines after a clip of him being the last to cross the finish line at the TCS London Marathon on Sunday went viral.
Thirty-five year old Tom Durnin battled to complete the 26.2-miles in eight hours, 10 minutes and 58 seconds.
The clip was shared by the race’s organisers and showed an exhausted Mr Durnin summoning all he could to complete the run.
The story behind Mr Durnin’s race shows just what an achievement completing the race was – he was involved in a car crash in December during which he suffered a bleed on the brain. That severely limited his training.
Race organisers captioned the picture of Mr Durnin crossing the finish line “perseverance and determination embodied“.
Mr Durnin was raising money for the Freddie’s Future and the Bone Cancer Research Trust. He was hoping to raise £2,500 but so far smashed through over £14,000!
