Parkrun, Banbury Market and Lantern parade cancelled as Banbury prepares for the storm
06/12/2024
Winds of up to 60mph and rain are anticipated
Preparations are being made ahead of the arrival of Storm Darragh in our area this weekend.
The Met office says that strong winds and rain can be expected from this evening until Sunday.
Banbury Market have confirmed the usual Saturday market has been cancelled.
The organisers of the weekly Parkrun in Spiceball Park have also pulled the plug on tomorrow’s event, having looked at the state of the course today and considering the likely impact of Storm Darragh.
Banbury BID had planned to hold a Lantern Parade tomorrow afternoon. They’ve postponed that for one week, saying that the safety of all participants and visitors – particularly the children – is their top priority.
And a Craft Fayre and Santa’s Grotto at the RAFA Club on Broad Steet has also been postponed until next Saturday.
