Pensioner arrested following sexual assault outside HMV

Witnesses reported the incident to police
A pensioner has been arrested after a female was sexually assaulted on a bench outside HMV in Banbury. The attack happened at around 3pm on Sunday October 9.
The victim was sitting on the bench in Bridge Street when she was approached by a man who sat down next to her. He grabbed the victim’s chest and then walked away.
A 79-year-old man from Bicester was subsequently arrested on suspicion of sexual assault by touching. He has been released on police bail.
Thames Valley Police is appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
Investigating officer, Detective Constable Jon Livingston, based at Banbury police station, said: “This incident was reported to us by two witnesses and I would like to thank them for reporting what happened.
“The victim hasn’t yet come forward and so I would appeal to them to please get in touch so that we can speak to them about the incident.
“I’d also appeal to any further witnesses who may have seen what happened to make a report.
