People’s Park café to open this weekend
10/11/2022
The opening comes as part of ongoing improvements in the park
A new café in People’s Park will be open to visitors from this weekend (November 12/13).
It is part of Banbury Town Council’s ongoing improvements in the park and comes after a survey in which park users asked for toilets and a café.
The toilets were opened last year and the café keys were yesterday handed to Carl Fox, owner of Carl’s Kitchen, by Cllr Martin Phillips, chairman of the council’s General Services Committee.
Mr Fox has a wealth of experience in the catering industry and currently runs the bistro at Park Gardens Retirement Living in Bath Road.
He said: “I’m delighted that my bid for the café lease was accepted and I’m excited to have the opportunity of providing a catering service to users of this beautiful park.”
Cllr Phillips said: “The new café is a wonderful additional facility in the park. It is a refurbished brick building near the Warwick Road entrance and has improved that corner of the town’s premier open space.
“The survey of park users came up with two overwhelming suggestions of what the public wanted and I’m pleased that the council has been able to deliver both projects.”
