14/06/2022
Five people aged 15 and 16 have now been arrested in the attempted murder investigation
Another two teenagers have been arrested by Banbury Police as they continue to investigate Saturday’s stabbing in Peoples Park. In total five people have now been arrested.
The latest arrests saw a 16-year-old Banbury boy and 15-year-old boy, also from the town, taken into custody.
It was at around 4pm on Saturday when emergency services were called to Peoples Park where a 21-year-old man had been stabbed. Initially members of the public came to his assistance and provided emergency first aid until medical professionals arrived.
The victim remains in hospital in a stable condition.
A warrant of further detention has been granted for the three other boys who were already in custody, meaning Thames Valley police can continue to detain a 15-year-old Oxford boy and two 16-year-old boys from Banbury.
Anyone with any information relating to the incident is urged to call 101 or make a report online, quoting reference 43220255119, or alternatively, call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
