29/03/2023
The incident is not being treated as suspicious
A person has lost their life on the train line to the north of Banbury. Emergency Services were called to reports of a casualty on the tracks at Claydon this morning (Wednesday) at 11.39am.
Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
British Transport Police say the incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
The line between Banbury and Leamington remained closed for over two hours whilst emergency services personnel dealt with the situation. Network Rail reported the line had reopened at 2pm but warned of delays for the rest of the afternoon.
One person stuck on a train at the incident praised Chiltern Railways staff for how they had dealt with the situation. Jack (@CasinoJack91) wrote: “I am currently on the service which has been involved in the incident between Leamington and Banbury and I just want to say you’re staff have been amazing and attentive to everyone on board. Thank you.”
