Photo ID and Proxy Vote deadline day ahead of polls opening next Thursday

24/04/2024

Applications must be made before 5pm today (Wednesday)

Anyone wanting to cast a vote at the Local Elections next week will need photo ID.   For those without any accepted form of photo ID, the deadline for applications is 5pm today.

The law now states that a valid form of identification must be shown before you will be given access to a polling booth.

One third of the seats on Cherwell District Council will be decided next Thursday.   Voters will also select a Police and Crime Commissioner for the Thames Valley and in Deddington villagers will participate in a referendum on their local plan.

The deadline for applying for a proxy vote – which lets electors choose a trusted person to vote on their behalf – is also 5pm today.

The polls open at 7am next Thursday (May 2).
