Plan for warehouses on Huscote Farm rejected – again
22/03/2024
“to destroy it would be disgraceful”
A resubmitted application to build on 140,000 square metres of farmland at Huscote Farm near Nethercote has been rejected.
Greystoke CB first submitted a speculative application for fields in May 2022. That was taken directly to appeal but the planning committee still considered the application at the time and concluded it would have been rejected.
The latest application plans were the same as for the previous application, but the applicant asked for the committee to defer their decision as they had provided more information in the last week.
But Councillors felt the applicant had been given plenty of time to supply the information needed by the committee.
Councillor Andrew Beere proposed rejecting the application with fifteen reasons provided for why it wasn’t suitable. These included air quality issues, the site being unallocated in the local plan, the visual impact and traffic issues.
Other Councillors noted the variety of wildlife that lived on the site and Councillor Phil Chapman described the area as “a thing of beauty” and added “to destroy it would be disgraceful.”
