Police abandon pursuit due to dangerous driving – but get the suspected driver
11/05/2023
The suspected driver was arrested for dangerous driving, drug driving and not having any insurance
Police had to abandon a car pursuit in Banbury on Wednesday after the vehicle being followed was driven “extremely dangerously”. But the suspected driver was caught when his vehicle was spotted outside a house.
He was arrested for a number of offences including drug driving and dangerous driving.
The man had initially tried to evade police when he was spotted in a vehicle that officers believed may be fitted with illegal window tints. The driver failed to stop when requested and drove off in the Audi SQ5.
Police officers pursued the vehicle but called off the chase due to the dangerous way the Audi was being driven.
The car was subsequently located outside a property, which police entered and arrested the suspected driver for dangerous driving, drug driving and not having any insurance. A tint metre on the windows showed that only 19% of light was allowed through – the law states a minimum of 75% for the front windscreen and 70% for the front side windows.
Writing on social media Thames Valley Police said: “That’s another one in custody that presents a significant risk to you and your loved ones on our roads.”
