Police called to potential escaped prisoner sighting at Banbury Train Station
07/09/2023
The Met Police have confirmed it wasn’t Daniel Khalife
Police were called to Banbury Train Station this afternoon following what was thought to be a sighting of wanted man Daniel Khalife. Officers later confirmed it was not the person they were looking for.
A national hunt is currently underway for the 21-year-old who escaped from Wandsworth Prison yesterday morning.
Khalife was on remand at Wandsworth, awaiting trial in relation to terrorism and Official Secrets Act offences. Police believe he escaped from the prison at approximately 7.50am underneath a delivery vehicle.
The Banbury incident has now been stood down and the public thanked for their support.
A spokesperson for the Met Police said: “We are aware of a man being stopped by police in the Banbury area earlier today. We have liaised with colleagues in Thames Valley and confirmed the man in question is not Daniel Khalife.”
Khalife was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, red and white chequered trousers and brown steel toe cap boots. He is of slim build, has short brown hair and is around 6ft 2ins tall.
