Delivering the required amount of new housing tilts decision towards approval
The likelihood of Bloxham having to take another 150 new houses on farmland in the village has increased with planning policy officers filing a “no objection” response to an outline planning application.
William Davis Homes want to build in the fields between the A361and the Barford Road. The mix of properties on the 7.8 hectare site is proposed as 98 market houses, 36 social, affordable or intermediate rent, and 16 affordable home ownership.
The plans were submitted to the council in September. A Committee decision date has yet to be set, but the Planning Policy, Conservation and Design Team have now commented to the application.
They highlight that because Cherwell District Council can’t demonstrate the required level of new housing being built in the next five years, permission should be granted unless the adverse impacts of doing so would significantly outweigh the benefits of building.
The case officer concluded: “Bloxham is a sustainable village, and Policy Villages 2 does make provision for some development in such settlements.
“Furthermore, the proposal would assist in meeting the districts housing need, including affordable housing provision but this would need to be policy compliant. Therefore, the merits of providing housing (including affordable homes) must be considered alongside other impacts of the proposed development.”

Bloxham has a small co-op… Traffic is already chaos most of the time (particularly at peak times) thanks to the stupid speed limits and badly planned and executed placement of parking near the Co-Op. William davis want to build 150 new houses which would equate to at least 200-250 new cars using the village shop? has the “case officer” who labelled Bloxham as “sustainable” ever visited the village I wonder? CDC’s planning policy officers also might consider visiting Bloxham too because its obvious none of these “officers” have been any where near the village!!
I cannot wait for Cherwell District Council to disappear as a an entity they are absolutely hopeless! This attempted wholesale rape of the countryside needs to stop NOW!

So true. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if all the housing officers that deem Bloxham as sustainable live in Northamptonshire where new homes are NOT being built. Are there any new shops to ne included in this NEW BUILD site?
