Poppy appeal was a record breaker

Sir Tony Baldry received his poppy from Banbury Royal British Legion Chairman Chris Smithson, watched by President Cllr Kieron Mallon at the start of the 2023 appeal.

Over £70,500 went to the Royal British Legion

Ahead of the launch of the 2024 Poppy Appeal its been announced that last year’s appeal was a record breaker in the Banbury area.   Over £70,500 was raised.

Of that £67,500 was donated in the first 16 days.

The amount donated to the Royal British Legion is up on the previous year’s total of £65,000.

Last year a number of volunteers answered a call for extra people to help with collections.   This year’s appeal begins locally on Thursday October 24.
