Positive start to Operation Sceptre week in Banbury park
17/05/2022
The week looks to raise awareness of knife crime and the devastating impact it can have
It was good news yesterday for Police Community Support Officers (PCSO) and Community Safety Wardens who didn’t find any hidden weapons during a sweep of Trinity Park in Banbury. The search was completed using metal detectors as part of Operation Sceptre’s knife crime week of action.
The national campaign aims to raise awareness of knife crime and the devastating impact it can have.
The PCSOs and Community Wardens were in the park engaging with students making their way to school and discussing any concerns they had.
Thames Valley Police is joining other forces across the country taking part in Operation Sceptre.
During this week a knife amnesty will give people the opportunity to safely and anonymously dispose of any type of knife or bladed article.
A permanent knife amnesty bin can be found at Banbury Police Station on Warwick Road.
