Refocus for Hospice shop where donations are “through the roof”

The Hillview Crescent unit isn’t closing, but maximising on what it does best

The focus of the Katharine House Hospice shop in Hillview Crescent is set to change this summer.

The unit will no longer serve as a shop, but instead become a donations centre, where people can drop off items that can be sold in one of the Hospice’s other outlets.

The move comes as the Hospice’s retail section looks at ways to maximise the effectiveness of their operation.

The charity’s online shop is currently run from a unit at Cherwell Business Village, but with that lease set to end the operation will relocate to the Hillview Crescent unit.

The changes are set to maximise the effectiveness of the premises used whilst maintaining a valued donations point.

Head of Retail, Scott Bloomfield, said: “Unfortunately, the sales at Hillview haven’t quite been where we needed them, however the donation levels have been through the roof.

“We also needed to move our online operation from Cherwell Business Village on the Southam road, because the lease was ending at the end of the summer, and thought Hillview would be a more cost-effective site.

“At the same time, we could keep Hillview as a donation drop off point to maximise the donations.”

The Hillview Cresent shop first opened its doors in August 2023.
