Those interested in fostering international friendships and celebrating diverse cultures are asked to get in contact
Banbury could soon be twinned with a town in Poland. Banbury and District Twinning Association is actively working towards establishing the new partnership and is optimistic it can be finalised by 2027.
Banbury has been twinned with the German town of Hennef since 1981 and Ermont in France since 1982. Its hoped ties with a Polish town would further enrich Banbury’s international ties.
During the past year the Twinning Association has undergone a significant revitalisation, with its membership more than doubling. It was present at a number of local events, including the Banbury United Children in Need appeal, Canal weekend, Remembrance Sunday, and Banbury Cake week. They also fostered valuable relationships through meetings with local sports and educational groups, demonstrating their commitment to community involvement.
John Donaldson, Chairman of the Banbury and District Twinning Association, said: “2024 was a year of refreshing and reconnecting. We’ve laid a strong foundation, and now, in 2025, we’re excited to expand our reach and amplify the incredible work of our town.”
The association’s focus for 2025 is to further enhance its role as a cultural bridge, strengthening ties with its twin towns and showcasing the best of Banbury to a wider audience.
As it seeks to expand its membership, those interested in fostering international friendships, celebrating diverse cultures, and contributing to Banbury’s vibrant community are invited to email info@banburytwinning.org.uk.
