Rotary crocuses bring early spring colour to People’s Park

05/03/2025

The flowers highlight the “Purple for Polio” campaign

We’re not quite there yet, but spring has already sprung in Banbury’s People’s Park with the crocuses having appeared and today bathing in the March sunshine.

More than 16,000 crocus corms were planted in the park late in 2023 by Banbury Rotary Club in conjunction with Banbury Town Council and students from Banbury and Bicester College.

The crocuses highlight local support for the “Purple for Polio” campaign – a global initiative to eradicate polio which has been running since 1979.
