Brackley Town have appointed a new manager. The Saints have acted quickly, signing Roger Johnson to manage their first team, and announcing the news less than 24 hours after revealing that Kevin Wilkin had left St James Park.
Stephen Ward also joins as assistant manager.
Roger Johnson had a 20-year career as a professional footballer, making over 600 senior appearances as a player. The 39-year-old started his career at Wycombe Wanderers, before joining Cardiff City in 2006. He went on to play for Birmingham City, Wolves, Sheffield Wednesday, West Ham and Charlton. He joined National League side Bromley in 2017 where his move into management came in 2020.
Mr Johnson’s first game in charge will be the Saint’s home game against AFC Fylde on October 8.
