Schedule of events designed to attract residents and visitors to town centre
15/02/2024
The Canal Festival, A Taste of Spring and Armed Forces day are some of the events set to return
Banbury Town Council has unveiled its calendar of events for 2024, with a focus on providing free-to-access entertainment that will bring both Banbury residents and visitors into the town centre.
Hugely popular stalwarts from previous years return, including April’s feast of foods at the Taste of Spring mini food and drink festival and October’s celebration of the town’s history and heritage in the two-day Canal Festival.
Banbury Show in Spiceball Park will herald the arrival of summer in June, featuring arena performances, side shows, a fun fair and an array of other activities.
Civic celebrations lined up include Armed Forces Day in June, Battle of Britain Day in September and the annual Remembrance Sunday parade in November.
An evening of music from local bands is planned for a July Friday night and the year will conclude with the hugely popular Christmas Lights switch-on event at the end of November.
Leader of the Council, Councillor Kieron Mallon said: “Banbury Town Council continues to promote Banbury, support its small traders and provide free at the point of entry events for young and not so young.
“Spring, summer, autumn and winter – it seems that every month we provide something for people to enjoy and at the same time bring in not only Banbury residents but visitors from far and wide to enjoy our town and boost the tourist trade of our local businesses.
“Banbury is a wonderful friendly town, open for business, so come and enjoy what’s on offer”.
