Search for Brackley’s special person to light beacon
20/04/2022
Do you know someone who deserves the accolade of being a key part of Brackley’s jubilee celebrations
The search has begun to find a special person to light Brackley’s Jubilee Beacon at the start of the four-day bank holiday weekend which will celebrate The Queen’s 70 years as our monarch. Beacons are due to shine out across the country at 9.45pm on Thursday, June 2.
Brackley’s Beacon will be lit as part of a Jubilee Festival which will run through the day at Brackley Rugby Club.
People are being asked to nominate a member of the local community who they feel deserves to be recognised as having done extraordinary things during the past few years. From all the nominations the Jubilee Events Community Committee will select a winner.
The Beacon is due to be lit on the mound at the Rugby Club and will come towards the end of a day packed with family fun. Live music and children’s entertainment starts at 3pm with artists due to perform including Pure Genius, Jennah, Astella, Daydream Runaways, Six Feet Apart, Amber Kellond and Bang Tail Feathers.
A variety of food and drink outlets will ensure the crowds do not go hungry.
The event will be free to attend.
The deadline to submit nominations to light the beacon is 5pm on Monday May 16 and the nominated person must live in or be from Brackley.
