Shows rearranged: Mill theatre closed as a precaution
30/01/2024
Damage has come to light following flooding around the building earlier this month
The Mill Arts Centre has closed its theatre after staff discovered damage to the floor following recent flooding.
At the time of the River Cherwell bursting its banks back at the start of January it was thought that much of the building – including the theatre – hadn’t been affected. The room has been in use since then.
Late yesterday afternoon (Monday) the Mill announced as a precaution they are closing the theatre to allow further inspection and maintenance work to be carried out.
Shows and events scheduled for the theatre are either being rescheduled or relocated. Emails have been sent to ticket holders for a number of upcoming performances. That includes those heading to the Dung Beatles performance “The Beatles Years & Beyond” which was scheduled for this Saturday. A new date for that show has yet to be arranged.
The Mill is keen to highlight that only the theatre is affected with other areas in the building operating as normal.
Its hoped events from February 5 onwards will go ahead as planned.
