Skatepark project moves forward with land lease negotiations underway
20/07/2023
The facility will be built close to Brackley Leisure Centre, alongside Candleford Close
Another step has been taken on the road to delivering Brackley’s brand new skate park.
On Tuesday West Northamptonshire Council’s Cabinet agreed to progress negotiations over terms for the lease of the land for the skatepark, which will be sited next to Brackley Leisure Centre, alongside Candleford Close.
Planning permission for the facility was approved in April.
The skatepark is a Brackley Town Council project which is being overseen by their contractor Maverick Skateparks.
Brackley Town Clerk, Alison Moses, said: “Brackley Town Council are looking forward to developing this long awaited facility.
“With a few more steps closer, we hope that we can move forward to the next stage very soon.”
Cllr Malcolm Longley, West Northamptonshire Council’s Cabinet Member for Finance, said: “Granting Brackley Town Council a lease on this land will enable it to bring forward a range of community facilities.
“I have no doubt that young people can’t wait for the development to be brought forward, and it’s a fantastic looking design with a range of elements to help blend it into the landscape.
“It will also complement other nearby facilities like Brackley Leisure Centre and recreation ground, which is home to Brackley Athletic Football Club.”
