Spiceball Leisure Centre will be closed all day today (Sunday) after a car crashed into the side of the building. Centre staff described the damage as “significant”.
The collision occurred late on Saturday evening, with social media reports first appearing shortly after 10pm.
The vehicle appears to have collided with the wall facing Concorde Avenue underneath the gymnasium.
A spokesperson for Spiceball Leisure Centre said: “Due to circumstances beyond our control, Spiceball will remain closed all day – Sunday 16th March.
“We will update again later today with more information about when we are able to reopen.
“We apologise for the disruption this has caused.”
Spiceball Leisure Centre is owned by Cherwell District Council.
Thames Valley Police told Banbury FM: “This was a minor [road traffic collision], thought to have been caused due to a medical episode suffered by the driver.”
