Staff shortages affect two local primary schools

Classes close as COVID infections continue to affect local teaching
Two local primary schools have announced class closures due to staff shortages.
At St John’s Roman Catholic Primary School the Early Years bubble is closed today and on Wednesday.
At Dashwood Banbury Academy the two year 3 classes closed yesterday and will remain closed until the end of Wednesday. Meanwhile youngsters in the 2 year old Nursery class – known as Cherry Class – will be off school all week.
A spokesperson for Dashwood Banbury Academy said: ”Year 3 pupils at Dashwood Academy have returned to online learning at home until Thursday due to staff shortages at the school as a result of Covid infections. The Cherry Class nursery for two year-olds is also shut until Monday for the same reason.
”We anticipate the school will be back open for all year 3 students as normal from Thursday this week.
”We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause parents, however, the safety and wellbeing of our staff and pupils is paramount and it is important Covid guidelines are followed.
”All parents and carers have been notified and support provided where necessary.”
