Staff thank-you event kicks off 150 years of the Horton celebrations
16/06/2022
The Horton General Hospital will mark its 150th anniversary in July
Staff at the Horton General Hospital have been given a thank you treat – as the countdown to a very special anniversary at the hospital begins.
July 17th marks 150 years since the Horton first opened. Yesterday the Horton General Hospital Charity organised free breakfasts and lunches for all the staff to show appreciation for all their hard work.
A group from Rapid Relief Team UK were on hand providing free catering assistance and serving up tasty treats on the hospital’s patio area. Food was also delivered to staff around the hospital who weren’t able to get out.
Hundreds of breakfasts and lunches were served during the day.
Sarah Vaccari from the Horton General Hospital Charity said: “The charity love to take any opportunity to get out and about to say thank you to the staff working across the Horton.
“Its been a tough few years, so this was a lovely opportunity to see and talk to staff and give them a bit of a treat whilst thanking them for what they are doing.
“The Horton turns 150 next month, which is a pretty amazing thing and certainly worth celebrating, so we thought we would kick off those celebrations a little bit earlier.”
Over the coming weeks the charity will be delivering patient packs around the hospital, filled with things to keep those staying in the hospital occupied. Celebratory hampers will also be delivered to staff areas.
Other recent projects undertaken by the Horton General Hospital Charity includes supplying virtual headsets in the childrens’ ward to help put youngsters at ease and the creation of a dementia friendly “reminiscence room”.
