Stolen caravan recovered in Banbury town centre

15/08/2025

The caravan had been taken in Hampshire

Officers from Thames Valley Police’s Rural Crime Taskforce recovered a stolen caravan in Banbury last night, six years after it was taken.

The Swift Quattro was recovered in Lower Cherwell Street where it was found with altered serial numbers.   Using the Caravan Registration and Identification Scheme (CRiS), officers were able to confirm it had been stolen from Hampshire in 2019.

The caravan was seized and will now be returned to its owners.

Police say the recovery highlights the importance of keeping CRiS records up to date, making it easier for officers to identify and reunite stolen caravans with their owners.
