Storm Isha clearup
22/01/2024
The main routes were quickly cleared of fallen trees
Local people worked through the night to clear fallen trees around the Banbury FM area in the wake of storm Isha.
Across the country wind gusts of up to 99mph were recorded with two people killed and thousands left without power. Locally we survived relatively unscathed with just fallen trees to contend with.
The A361 through Bloxham was blocked early on Monday after a tree came down close to the Red Lion pub. Wykham Lane between Bodicote and the A361 was also affected.
People with chainsaws worked to remove the blockages in these and other locations, keeping the main routes open in time for this morning’s rush hour.
As wind levels drop forecasters are predicting more problems on Tuesday as storm Jocelyn arrives, although gusts are expected to be weaker than with storm Isha.
