Teenage girl assaulted after being chased around the town centre

A group of seven girls and two boys had pursued the victim and her friend
A teenage girl sustained injuries to her arm and head after an assault in Banbury on Tuesday afternoon. The girl and her friend had been pursued by a group of youngsters who eventually confronted them and assaulted the victim.
Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses to come forward.
The victim and her friend were walking in the town centre at around 5pm when they were chased by a group of seven girls and two boys, who were known to them. The group pursued the two girls through Castle Quay Shopping Centre on to the canal towpath and through Bridge Street Park.
A little later, at around 6.55pm, the victim and her friend were walking towards Alma Road from the direction of the Londis store on Middleton Road. The same group chased them again and eventually confronted them on Alma Road. Here there was an altercation, during which the victim fell to the floor injuring her arm and head.
PC Tony Francis, based at Banbury police station, said: “I am appealing for anyone who may have witnessed these incidents or have information about them to please get in touch.
“Also, if you have any CCTV footage in these areas or any dash-cam footage if you were in the area around the time, I’d also ask that you check any recordings in case it has captured something that could assist our investigation.
