A number of staff had showed norovirus type symptoms
The Exchange in Banbury High Street has been closed as a precautionary measure after a number of staff showed norovirus type symptoms. The JD Wetherspoon’s venue has been closed since Monday.
It is anticipated The Exchange will reopen tomorrow lunchtime (Wednesday).
A sign on the pub’s door said: “Due to unforeseen circumstances this pub will be closed until further notice. We apologise for any inconvenience.”
A spokesperson for JD Wetherspoon told Banbury FM: “Due to a number of staff presenting norovirus type symptoms, Wetherspoon decided to voluntarily close the pub for 48 hours in order to complete a deep clean and to allow staff who are ill to recover.
“It is envisaged that the pub will reopen at midday on 22nd June.”
Norovirus is a stomach bug that causes vomiting and diarrhoea. It is also called the “winter vomiting bug” and usually goes away in about 2 days.
