The festival brings thousands of people to our area each year
The gates are open and the festival is underway!
Fairport’s Cropredy Convention is up and running, with the first campers heading onto the site at 7 o’clock this morning.
Thousands of people will make the fields around Cropredy their home for the next few days, with many local businesses and organisations benefitting from the influx of visitors.
Known as the friendly festival, today’s headliner is the award-winning guitarist Albert Lee. Fairport Convention kick things off at 4 o’clock performing an acoustic set.
It’s a first for the children from Cropredy Primary School’s Folk Group tomorrow. They have been given the opportunity to perform on the main stage – a performance they have been working towards. The youngsters will open a day, which concludes with The Trevor Horn Band.
As usual Fairport Convention will bring the festival to a close on Saturday evening, joined by a number of special guests.
Alongside the main festival, Cropredy village has a number of other venues providing entertainment for villagers and visitors alike.
Live music can be found at the Brasenose Arms and the canal side Saucy Hound, with the Red Lion also playing host to more bands.
The Cream of the Crop in the festival’s former field 8 – which is now a private campsite at The Old Dairy Farm – also has performances through the weekend.
Alongside the music the Friends of Cropredy Primary School will be raising money by encouraging people to follow their scarecrow trail around the village.
