The search to find a Banbury young star chef
06/11/2024
The annual Rotary competition is looking for applications from those wanting to take part
The hunt is on to find tomorrow’s culinary kings and queens of the kitchen – and it could be a local person crowned the Rotary Chef of the Year.
Young people, who are aged between 11 and 17 on August 31, are eligible to take part, as long as they aren’t employed in the catering trade or studying for a catering qualification above “A” level (or equivalent) standard.
Whilst community organisations, schools and colleges are encouraged to put people forward for the competition, individuals with a culinary flare are also invited to sign up.
Those taking part will be challenged to prepare and serve a two-course healthy meal comprising a main course and dessert for two people within two hours. The total cost must be no more than £18.
A local final will be held in January with the winner heading off to represent our area in a regional final.
The eventual winner of the Rotary Young Chef National Final will receive a prize of a two-day trip to Tuscany, which includes cookery classes to learn the secrets of regional Italian cooking.
Budding young chefs have until Friday December 6 to submit their applications to take part. Entry forms are available from Bernard Goodchild by emailing bernardgoodchild367@gmail.com.
