Bridge repair work starts today leading to a road closure until January 31

Motorists are being reminded that the back road between Kings Sutton and Overthorpe is closed for three months from today.

The Warkworth Road/Upper Astrop Road has been shut so Northamptonshire Highways can carry out major structural repairs to the bridge over the Farthinghoe stream.

The work will include the removal and replacement of the bridge parapets, new safety fencing and stonework repairs to the headwall.

The road is expected to remain closed until January 31st.

It’s a little bridge over a little stream on a narrow country road. How is it going to take three months?
it’s going to cause huge inconvenience for a lot of people, not to mention postmen, school buses and waste collection vehicles.
It could be done in three weeks if people got their act together but I expect it will be the usual council job with ‘workers’ sat in their lorries most of the time. You should them repairing pot holes to see how it works. They were in Kings Sutton a while back. Six men in three vehicles and 50 minutes to repair one pothole. Two of the men didn’t get out of their pick-up truck.
