Town Council marks poignant first anniversary of war

Councillor Kieron Mallon: “Banbury is proud to show its support for Ukraine”

Banbury Town Hall will be illuminated in the Ukrainian colours this evening as the Town Council recognises the first anniversary of the war.  A year ago today Russia invaded Ukraine.

Through the day the blue and yellow Ukrainian flag has been flown above the building.

Leader of the council Kieron Mallon said: “This is a significant event that is being recognised around the world and Banbury is proud to show its support for Ukraine.

“We flew the flag and illuminated the town hall when the war started and it is fitting that we do so again at this time.”
