Trouble troubles with double whammy of industrial action and engineering work
29/01/2024
The advice is to check before you travel
Banbury’s train users need to plan ahead during the next couple of weeks as industrial action and engineering works are likely to affect journeys.
Starting today (Monday) members of the train driver’s union – ASLEF – have begun a ban on non-compulsory overtime. This will result in some trains being cancelled and timetables amended. Chiltern will only have one train an hour to London and there’s a warning that the service from Kings Sutton will be severely reduced.
Planned engineering work on Saturday will further affect local services and rail operators are suggesting trains should only be used for essential travel.
No services will operate at all next Monday (February 5) as ASLEF members will be on strike through the day.
