Up to £2,000 available to groups offering food or community food activities

Previous grants have helped with developing community growing spaces and emergency food provision

Cherwell District Council has launched the latest round of its Community Food Grants.   Up to £2,000 is on offer to not-for-profit groups who provide food or develop community food activities involving cooking, growing or nutrition and food education.

The money can be used as capital, or as revenue to support, the running of food-related projects directly linked to the Cherwell Food Action Plan.

Applicants don’t need to currently provide community food services, storage or activities to apply – the grant could be used to create a new food-related service.

Councillor Rob Pattenden, Portfolio Holder for Healthy Communities, said: “We are proud of our tradition of working closely with community groups, and I am thrilled that our latest round of food grants have launched and are available to support those working at the heart of the community.

“Previous food grants have helped with some wonderful projects, including developing community growing spaces and emergency food provision.

“I urge any eligible groups to take advantage of these grants and apply to ensure that residents can benefit from worthwhile food projects.”
