She served as Attorney General in Rishi Sunak’s government

Former Banbury MP Victoria Prentis has been given a life peerage in Rishi Sunak’s resignation honours.

The announcement has been made this afternoon.

Until July last year she was the Attorney General in Mr Sunak’s government.

Mrs Prentis served as the MP for Banbury from 2015 to 2024.    During her time in office her roles included the Minister for Work and Welfare and Minister for Farming, Fisheries and Food.   She is currently helping to train Ukrainian lawyers to prosecute war crimes cases.

As the news was announced Mrs Prentis said: “It is a huge privilege to have been recognised in the former Prime Minister’s resignation honours.   In the Lords, I hope to focus on my areas of interest: the law and the countryside, and to continue to support justice for Ukraine.”
