Victoria Prentis votes in favour of Privileges Committee report on Boris Johnson
20/06/2023
Around two-thirds of Tory MPs didn’t turn up for the vote, but Banbury’s MP was there
Banbury’s MP, Victoria Prentis, voted to accept the report which found Boris Johnson deliberately misled MPs over lockdown parties in No 10.
225 Conservative MPs didn’t turn up to yesterday’s vote – including Prime Minister Rishi Sunak – but Mrs Prentis was there and cast a vote in support the Privileges Committee report.
After a year-long enquiry, the Privileges Committee recommended that Mr Johnson should have been suspended from the Commons for 90 days if he had remained an MP. The report also recommended that he should not be entitled to a former Member’s pass, meaning he can now only visit parliament if he applies for a guest pass.
House of Commons voting records show that Mrs Prentis voted in favour of the motion to back the report.
Yesterday we reported that the leader of the Labour Group at Cherwell District Council, Sean Woodcock, had called on Mrs Prentis, to “do the right thing by her constituents and vote to accept the findings of the Privileges Committee report in full”.
